Ongoing projects
Tembec is making major investments in green energy projects that will generate steady revenues and improve our environmental performance, and in cost and productivity improvement projects in our manufacturing operations. We are also pursuing a blue sky R&D project with potential in new markets.
Capital investment plan exceeds $400 million billion dollars
Tembec’s multi-year capital investment plan covers two main areas, with a focus on high returning projects that use proven technology and equipment:
- Over $310 million in green energy projects is mainly for cogenerated electricity facilities that will provide stable revenues, as well as bioenergy projects that will improve business and environmental performance.
- Over $120 million for dozens of business improvement projects designed to reduce costs and increase productivity across all our businesses.
Approximately two-thirds of our planned capital investments are earmarked for our specialty cellulose operations, Temiscaming in Canada and Tartas in France, with the goal of making them among the most modern of their type.
This section of the website covers projects that are already underway, and will update you as new projects progress.
Next generation sustainable fiber, now in development
Tembec’s new biocomposite material has potential product applications in many industries, and our pilot plant is ready to produce prototypes.
